Dr. Anbec DeShield-Mayes, DDS, MPA
Dr. DeShield-Mayes graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a double major in Chemistry and African Studies. In 2009, she graduated from the UNC-Chapel Hill Adams School of Dentistry (UNC-ASOD) and has worked in both private and public health dentistry. She also has a Masters of Public Administration with a concentration in Health Care from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
Dr. DeShield-Mayes started her career with FirstHealth Dental Care Centers, which is a nonprofit dental center that serves the underserved youth of North Carolina. She has served as an adjunct faculty member at the UNC-ASOD and enjoys mentoring students and new graduates from both UNC-ASOD and East Carolina School of Dental Medicine. Dr. DeShield-Mayes served as the President of the North Carolina Dental Society 3rd District from 2016-2020, which covers 13 counties including Guilford. She is an active member and has held numerous leadership positions in the Old North State Dental Society, Greensboro Medical Society, American Dental Association, and North Carolina Dental Society since she graduated dental school. Dr. DeShield-Mayes is most proud of being married to the love of her life and mother to her beautiful baby girl!
